Watch the Premier League on IPTV in the UK: Channels & Tips

Watch the Premier League on IPTV in the UK: Channels & Tips – illustration

Football is the reason most British households look at IPTV in the first place. Following one club across a season can mean paying for several services, and the rules about what's on, and where, aren't obvious. Here's how Premier League coverage works in the UK and how to get the best picture on match day.

Who shows the Premier League in the UK

Under the current UK rights deal, which runs from 2025/26, live Premier League matches are split between two broadcasters:

  • Sky Sports shows the large majority of live matches, including Super Sunday, Monday and Friday night games and most Saturday evening kick-offs. They're on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event.
  • TNT Sports shows the Saturday 12:30 kick-off and a smaller package of other matches on TNT Sports 1.
  • BBC shows highlights on Match of the Day, and the BBC and ITV share FA Cup coverage.

Every one of those channels is included on every British IPTV plan, in HD and in 4K where the broadcaster produces it. See our UK sports channels guide for the full list.

The 3pm blackout

Matches that kick off between 2:45pm and 5:15pm on a Saturday are not shown live by any UK broadcaster. The rule exists to protect attendances lower down the football pyramid, and it applies to every licensed service in Britain, including ours. You'll find those games in the Match of the Day and Sky Sports highlights once the final whistle has gone.

Finding the match quickly

  1. Open the TV guide and go to the Sports group.
  2. Look for the fixture in the programme title: the guide lists teams and kick-off times.
  3. Add Sky Sports Premier League, Sky Sports Main Event and TNT Sports 1 to your favourites at the start of the season.
  4. If a channel offers a 4K version, it sits next to the HD one with “4K” in the name.

Match-day tips for a smooth picture

  • Open the channel ten minutes before kick-off so the stream settles before demand peaks.
  • Wire your Firestick or box to the router. It's the single biggest fix for match-day buffering.
  • Pause big downloads and game updates in the house during the match.
  • Pick HD over 4K if your broadband is under about 25 Mbps or other people are streaming.
  • Use the backup feed if a channel ever stutters. It's in the same group, marked as a backup.

Our buffering fixes guide covers routers, DNS and Wi-Fi in more depth.

Beyond the Premier League

The same subscription covers the EFL (on Sky Sports), the Scottish Premiership (Sky Sports), the Champions League and Europa League (TNT Sports under the current deal), La Liga on LaLiga TV and Premier Sports, and international football on ITV, BBC and Channel 4. If you follow a club in Scotland, see our Glasgow and Edinburgh pages.

Frequently asked questions

Can I watch Saturday 3pm Premier League games on IPTV?

Sky Sports, across Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event. TNT Sports shows a smaller package including the Saturday lunchtime game.

Is Premier League football in 4K on IPTV?
