F1, Cricket, Rugby & Darts on British IPTV: Where to Watch

F1, Cricket, Rugby & Darts on British IPTV: Where to Watch – illustration

Football gets the headlines, but Britain watches a lot more than football. Here's where the other big sports are shown in the UK, and how to get the best out of them on IPTV.

Formula 1

Every practice, qualifying session and race is live on Sky Sports F1, with Channel 4 showing highlights. Races on the other side of the world often start in the early hours of the morning, so catch-up is your friend: open the TV guide, go back to the race and press play from the start, without spoilers on your phone. 4K coverage is available on many race weekends.

Cricket

England men's and women's internationals, The Hundred and much county cricket are on Sky Sports Cricket, with highlights on BBC. Away Ashes series in Australia mean overnight sessions, which again makes catch-up essential. If you follow Yorkshire or Lancashire, see our Leeds and Manchester pages.

Rugby union and league

  • Six Nations: shared between BBC and ITV, so it's on free-to-air channels in the UK group.
  • Premiership Rugby and European Champions Cup: TNT Sports.
  • United Rugby Championship: Premier Sports, with selected games on BBC Wales, BBC Scotland, S4C and others.
  • Super League rugby league: Sky Sports, with some matches on the BBC.

Welsh viewers can watch rugby in Welsh on S4C. See our Cardiff page for more.

Darts and snooker

The PDC World Championship at Alexandra Palace and the Premier League Darts are on Sky Sports. Snooker's Triple Crown events are split between the BBC (the World Championship from the Crucible, the UK Championship and the Masters) and TNT Sports for many ranking events.

Golf, tennis and racing

  • Golf: Sky Sports Golf for the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, Ryder Cup and most majors, with BBC highlights of The Open.
  • Tennis: Wimbledon on the BBC; other Grand Slams on TNT Sports; ATP events on Sky Sports Tennis.
  • Horse racing: the Grand National, Cheltenham and Royal Ascot on ITV Racing, with daily racing on Racing TV and Sky Sports Racing.

Tips for overnight and weekend sport

  • Use catch-up to watch from the start rather than staying up.
  • Add each sport's main channel to favourites during its season.
  • For long events like Test cricket, a wired connection avoids drop-outs over a full day's play.

All of these channels come with every British IPTV plan. For football, see our Premier League guide.
